NEW YORK (AFP) – Tick, 20,000 dollars, tock, another 20,000 dollars.

Sometime in the next two years, the total amount of US government borrowing is going to break through the 10-trillion-dollar mark and, lacking space for the extra digit such a figure would require, the clock is in danger of running itself into obsolescence.
The clock’s owner, real estate developer Douglas Durst, knew such a problem could arise but hadn’t counted on it so soon.

Before 9/11

Before 9/11 Bush had plans.

Rush Limbaugh hosting for Pat Sajak

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

An interesting video clip of Rush Limbaugh prior to his becoming very famous. The video clip is 11 minutes and could very well be the last time that he has ever had anyone oppose what he says

Keith Olbermann is really good!

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

So with all of the W speak about the Iraq War, Keith Olbermann is holding W to the words he used in the past

The USA is in a transition

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

Do Americans care when their liberties are sacrificed by politicians interested in money/oil/power rather than the good of the citizenry?

Worst Person in the World 3/23/06

Friday, March 24th, 2006

Keith Olbermann is just the best!!
But tonight’s winner, Barbara Bush. Former First Lady, mother of the president. The “Houston Chronicle” reporting today and her chief of staff confirming that Mrs. Bush made a generous donation to the Hurricane Katrina relief fund co-chaired by her husband, the former president, and former President Clinton, but there was a catch. The money she donated had to be spent, was earmarked for, was intended only for use for buying computer software programs for schools in Houston. Computer software programs through schools in Houston that were sold by her son, Neil. You would think if a woman has reached her 80th birthday she would understand that if you make a donation to charity, and make the charity give the donation to your son it’s not a damned donation anymore.

Barbara Bush. Today’s “Worst Person in the World!”

Straw man arguments

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

So FOX News was known for their famous “some say” statements and then an assertion that really is not saying such as “Some say” puppies should be killed. So apparently W has been utilizing such straw man arguments and finally the press has seen the light that W’s arguments were often times baseless.

Power Station

Athieism in prison…. did I spell that correctly?

Saturday, March 18th, 2006

The Federal Bureau of Prisons does have statistics on religious affiliations of inmates. The following are total number of inmates per religion category:

Response Number %
—————————- ——–
Catholic 29267 39.164%
Protestant 26162 35.008%
Muslim 5435 7.273%
American Indian 2408 3.222%
Nation 1734 2.320%
Rasta 1485 1.987%
Jewish 1325 1.773%
Church of Christ 1303 1.744%
Pentecostal 1093 1.463%
Moorish 1066 1.426%
Buddhist 882 1.180%
Jehovah Witness 665 0.890%
Adventist 621 0.831%
Orthodox 375 0.502%
Mormon 298 0.399%
Scientology 190 0.254%
Atheist 156 0.209%
Hindu 119 0.159%
Santeria 117 0.157%
Sikh 14 0.019%
Bahai 9 0.012%
Krishna 7 0.009%
—————————- ——–
Total Known Responses 74731 100.001% (rounding to 3 digits does this)

So Atheists make up 3% of the US population, but only .2% on the US prison population. Not bad for a group who “doesn’t believe in anything”.

Lemme get this straight!!!!

Saturday, March 18th, 2006

So the Sago Mine operator where 12 people died is fined $100,000

Meanwhile CBS is fined $550,000 for Janet Jackson’s Stupid Bowl Show?

So 12 people dying as a result of a mine collapse which was at least partially if not totally due to lack of code enforcement (when your company is cited 208 times for life and death safety violations and you are still operating something is wrong) is 1/5 as bad as seeing Janet’s left breast…something is wrong.

A San Mateo public radio station aired a documentary that had some bad words in it….they were fined $15,000 so hearing a few bad words is 15% as bad as 12 people dying apparently.

Or if you follow further into the story you find that the coal mine owners wrote most of the regulations for the industry.

Very nice!

What did FDR say about WW2?

Friday, March 10th, 2006

“I don’t want to see a single war millionaire created in the United States as a result of this world disaster”?

Interesting view of the idea of war. My how times change!
