A look at the media

and the people who look at media

There is no shame in Washington D.C.

How can normal people allow this piece of legislation go through without feeling guilt and not being able to look in the mirror. Read more about how the repeal of the estate tax hurts America. The raising of the minimum wage will help millions but….not really.

It is ironic that the repeal of the Estate Tax affecting 5 in 1000 people was passed easily while the Minimum Wage raising by $2.00 affecting 7.3 million people was fought so hard by Republicans.  As posted before in my blog…the numbers show the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.  By the way the Estate Tax affected 59 African Americans…out of our national population of 38 million African Americans.

And people voted for Bush for “values”.  Apparently not prying $2 out of millionaire’s hand is a value as is not having 50 million people insured.  The Estate tax came about because of the ridiculous disparity in incomes back in 1916.  So how does giving $500 billion to these super rich people help that issue which truly exists today?  And the Christian right says nothing about the disparity of incomes in today’s society and they actually support those who oppose helping the poor.  Very nice!

The role of our troops in Iraq

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

It appears for the moment that a glimmer of truth may be shinging out of the Whte House for a change.  Who knows, maybe we will get the real reason we are in Iraq out of these people one day.

How much safer can the world afford to have him make us?

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

On “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart interviewed Senator John McCain and immediately had him squirming with his first question: “President Bush has been very clear that, through his leadership, he has made the world safer. My question to you is simply this: how much safer can the world afford to have him make us?” McCain dodged the question repeatedly — prompting Stewart to actually say, “Don’t dodge the question!”

What if the circumstances of Iraq were reversed?

The $500 billion repeal of the Estate tax

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Who did it help?  It helped 59 African-Americans.  59.  That’s a 5 and a 9 which together make 59.

The vote was hacked

Monday, July 24th, 2006

So it is 7/24/06 and this is not all over the press?  Apparently the voting data is kept in unencrypted database files which can be seen/altered by anyone. This guy should be given a Medal of Freedom, as opposed to this guy who got a Medal of Freedom for helping George W. Bush lie in order to get us into a war and have thousands die

Monday, July 24th, 2006

So for 7/24/06 ThinkProgress wrapped up a few things nicely

Do they really believe this stuff?

Monday, July 24th, 2006

So here is Chief of Staff Josh Bolten basically trying to squirm his way out of the policy decisions that are not rooted in science nor logic. If he says he is not a scientist and nor is Karl Rove, then why do they make scientific policy decisions? So if this policy is correct then why is this not correct as well? This is a good look at the hypocracy involved in this train of thought.,

Ironic that W doesnt want to kill embryos but in Iraq over 100 people are killed there daily for well over the past month with an accelleration with the death toll.  International Herald Tribune has an interesting article on the irony.

Again, we don’t need the First Amendment

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

What are kids being taught about the First Amendment these days?  Since we obviously no longer have a First Amendment.

At the Republican National Convention in New York City and at other campaign stops, security segregated protesters in designated “free speech zones” set up at a significant distance from each rally. To get into events headlined by Bush or Vice President Dick Cheney, supporters were required to obtain tickets through GOP channels or sign loyalty oaths

George W. Bush still does not like science

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

When you tell scientists to change their findings then you are not a good friend of scientific research are you?

Hybrid technology hypocracy

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

Why hasn’t hybrid technology taken off?  The government is one big reason!  If the government was serious they would remove the $500 billion in Estate tax breaks to the lesst than 0.2% of the nation that effects and give a huge tax break to purchasers of hybrids.

So is a hybrid card really a dollar saver?

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

The dollar savings are a toss up as compared to a regular gas sucking car.

Jon Stewart and the anti-Stem Cell research crowd

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

Did you see the Jon Stewart thing on Stem Cells?
Apparently a LOT of the Stem cell things are hugely damaged cells because THEY HAVE BEEN FROZEN!!!!!.  You aren’t talking about a pea and a carrot (or a little baby carrot) you are talking about a few cells that gotta make a whole human being.  They kind of have to be in mint condition and freezing them damages them quite a bit.  So there are about 400,000 of these frozen little guys in the USA and last year about 128 were built into a person.  That leaves a lot of the little Zygotes left over.  And everyone knows that leftovers go bad after a week.  So instead of using this medical waste to do what they can as far as research, they are happy to let the little cells die and just let people die or suffer.  As I was talking about horses with Lyn she told me of a procedure which is very very (like ALWAYS) is done prior to big events in which they take a syringe filled with HORSE STEM CELLS and they inject that into the horse prior to races and other events where they need the horse’s joints to work perfectly.  And there was a rat with the spinal injury that was fixed with injection of stem cells just a couple of weeks ago.  Apparently Stem Cells are miraculous and it is amazing how the Religious Right is against the use of this miracle substance!

Would this be irony or just stupidity?

Friday, July 21st, 2006

So there was Glenn Beck bringing Congressman  James M. Inhofe (R-OK) on his radio show and on TV too.  So Inhofe was talking about global warming.  Considering the CO2 levels are higher than ever it is funny to consider where he receives his large bags of dollars and considering what he said.

Tony Snow and the denial of a U.N. vote

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

Isn’t it wonderful when someone can adjust their own personal reality?

That could be called denial

When someone twists the reality of a situation to that of a delusion it is called Schizophrenia

When someone knows the difference and relays to others facts contrary to their knowledge it is called a lie

And when the Voice of America governmental broadcasting outlet directly contradicts you  that would just make that person insane

But what does it make the people that still approve of that person

Second hand smoke = child abuse

Friday, July 14th, 2006

I have been saying this for at least 10 years

Gotta love

Friday, July 14th, 2006

Hi, I am a conservative Republican. Let me tell you a few things about myself. I don’t think anyone should have sex before marriage. It is morally repugnant. Now I don’t count myself in this because, well, let’s not go crazy. I don’t want to pay taxes but I want the war in Iraq to continue and I want to use libraries and drive on state roads, and attend public schools. I have no idea where the money for these things will come from but I don’t want to have to pay for them so please stay out of my pockets. I support religious freedom and prayer in schools just so long as you plan on using my prayers and not some crazy muslim or jewish prayer and certainly not catholic. Let’s not go crazy. We all know what I mean by religion, I mean my religion and certainly you can’t be against that, if you are then you don’t love god or America. Also, I totally support free speach but if you say something I disagree with then I will make sure you suffer. No offense, but it is my right to punish you for disagreeing with me. And if you really push me I will wire-tap your phone. I don’t mean to scare you but I love my country more than you so I know this must be hard for you to understand. Support our Troops!

I also want to speak on the sanctity of marriage. Now I realize that I have been married twice but still you must understand that if gays are allowed to marry that my marriage to my second wife will be less sacred. Who cares about my first marriage. I dumped that cow. And it is totally wrong for us to let gay folks adopt chinese babies and crack babies. Those babies are much better off in orphanages and in foster care. Why if a gay parent adopts them, they may grow up and be gay and that would be the real tragedy. I realize that most all gay people were raised by straight parents, but still I feel this fear is justified. And I just want you all to understand that the automobile is the perfect “vehicle” for displaying your patriotism. If you don’t have a flag bumper sticker or a yellow ribbon on the back of your car then that is a clear sign to me that you don’t love this country or the men who are dying to protect it. God Bless America!
