and 45% believe in Armageddon and about the same percentage believe the Antichrist is on earth presently. There is a reason why our nation is not acting on global warming and our massive debt and this is why. We are turning into a theocracy if we continue in our same direction. And these people can vote and they voted for Bush!!!!!Â
Amazing Bill Moyers special on PBS oulines what Abramoff, the Religious Right and the GOP did in their involvement in one of the biggest bribery scandals in Washington. Ralph Reed played the Religious right for millions as Jack Abramoff played Indian tribes for millions and Grover Norquist played them all for millions. The cash was a huge money laundering operation the likes the nation has never seen. These three were also heavily involved in the idologically bent Republican Revolution which came about in 1994 and is about to die a painful death as America is victimized.  The entire special is streamed here. You will need Real Player to see the show. Unfortunately corporate money like this will never be removed from Washington DC as it is seen as a First Amendment right for huge corporations to bribe our lawmakers. How can public funding be done economically? Or we can continue to see laws favoring corporations to the detramanet of people.Â
Bush talks evangelical talk as no other president has, including Jimmy Carter, who also talked the language of the secular Enlightenment culture that evangelists despise. Bush told various evangelical groups that he felt God had called him to run for president in 2000: “I know it won’t be easy on me or my family, but God wants me to do it.”
God told Bush to invade Iraq and Afghanistan. So what happens when God loses a war?
Another world leader who talks to God. Here is another world leader who talks to God. And another. And another one who speaks directly to God. Why are we the ONLY Western nation with a leader that says he talks to God…and one of many countries that we say are terrorist countries that talks to God.Â
Just because this guy is the head of the General Accounting Office which makes him the bookkeeper for America, don’t believe the country is in trouble! The country’s economy is doing well!
Don’t believe this, it is written by the BBC, an even though they talk to economists and experts don’t believe that the US economy and ESPECIALLY the poor are doing fabulous. Check those charts…GO POOR PEOPLE GOOOO!
We have the best health care in the world…dont believe this report!!! !!! If we don’t believe it…it isn’t true!
Bush lies to get us into a war which has killed hundreds of thousands and has sacrificed America’s Democratic background to its core with the repeal of Habaeus Corpus and on and on and on. Clinton was acquitted on both charges in his impeachment trial while Americans saw the truth which seems to be common for many presidents after they leave office. With Bush it is the same thing with Americans seeing the truth. So who should be impeached…Clinton or W? Here is a movie about Clinton’s impeachment. Hopefully we will have one for W in which he is not acquitted. If the impeachment proceedings for Clinton were just…then W will have his proceedings as well…if not that just proves what a sham Clinton’s impeachment proceedings were. Nobody died when Clinton lied which should have had Hillary throw a lamp at him and it should have been done with…but it wasn’t that way at all. Articles of Impeachment against George W. Bush here.
What kind of crazy reasoning is going on here? The righties who claim to be pro life are saying that having profound victim spokespersons such as Michael J. Fox and the 9/11 widows and others are so frought with sadness and pity by society that they cannot be argued with. Ann Coulter has argued this on FOX of course, saying the 9/11 widows cannot be argued with because their loss is so great. Yes, Tucker Carlson is right in that these people pull so much on heartstrings that rational discussion comes to an end when these people speak up on political topics. There are a lot of people that have circumstances that are so beaten by their lives that there is nothing to discuss. Try finding someone with Parkinson’s to fight against research that could save their lives. Try getting someone with Alzheimer’s to fight against stem cell research that may stop that.
People with Parkinson’s could be cured by stem cell research that George W. Bush vetoed…his only veto to date…but the veto will make it impossible to do thorough research as scientists want. Because of this it is very probable that a brain drain and money drain will occur to other countries where such research WILL go forward.Â
Michael J. Fox said not to pity him. Tucker Carlson and Ann Coulter say those people with afflictions are beyond moral question and therefore they halt discussion. Yeah…they do…for a reason…there is only one logical side…and Tucker Carlson, Ann Coulter and the Religious Right are on the WRONG side.  As Michael J. Fox said…yes the private sector could do the research but the government could spend more and do more on accident than the private sector could do on purpose. So what if you get Parkinson’s Disease and research from stem cells can cure it…but that research is never done and the discovery is never found so you basically have Parkinson’s for no reason. Millions get those diseases and it could be that they get those diseases for no reason in retrospect…and that could be you.
If you believe in Intelligent Design where do people with these afflictions fit in? If you believe in Intelligent Design where do the people opposed to Stem Cell research fit in?
The USA is not looking good on this list of nations with the freest press. Actually the United States is on this list twice. You will scroll for a little while to find the first entry and then the second entry is way down the line. Are we supposed to be proud of this?
In order to get a better perspective over what has happened in Iraq let’s change the viewpoint of how we look at it. Let’s pretend the USA is a smaller country and France is a huge huge superpower in every way. France did own a good part of the planet at one time…let’s pretend they didn’t screw that up and say they currently have the pink slip for all of Europe…and the USA is about as big as California alone. Who owns the rest of the USA other than where we live in California? Corporations of course but that’s another blog entry!!
France is the USA and the USA is France…our roles are perfectly reversed and we of course live in the USA meaning France started the Iraq War. Even our history is reversed. France is the USA and the USA is France…start pretending….
Starting in 2000 we hear that the group the French people elected have many of the same people that were involved in the Nixon era which really shook France to its democratic core several decades ago. A plan to invade Iraq was written years ago by this group that is in power in France…way before they were in office currently and they are truly saying “give us any reason to invade Iraqâ€.   These people are displaying a messianic complex in that they are tying themselves close to God and their leaders say they directly talk to God so of course their judgment is questionable at best because the people who talk directly to God…well the world knows those people are irrational.  We see the man elected President of France completely lacks any knowledge of international affairs…he cannot name current world leaders and this seems to be a plus for him in the eyes of the French people. The President of France is lost and the people around him have outlined a war IN WRITING with no real reason for the war. We in the USA have to wonder what is going on in France.
Then 9/11 happens…France is hit and the world stops for that day. All things point to fanaticized Saudis as the hijackers of the planes that kill 3000 French people. The fanatic group is based in Afghanistan, which is turned upside down by the fanatics and the world invades Afghanistan to free the Afghan people and stop the fanatics at their base. Ironically the fanaticized group was financed and beefed up in the 1980s by France. The fanatics took trips to France’s military bases for extensive training in the 80s and were financed by France to make them better fighters against France’s former enemy Russia.  France and the fanatics seemed to have had some sort of weird love/hate relationship but we see the fanatics for what they are and wonder why France would want to be friends with the fanatics back then. Now the fanatics have turned their rage to France but the French people do not recall what they created in the 80s so the French people truly think the fanatics just popped up out of the desert wanting to kill them one day. Even the main reason the fanatics say why they hate France is blurred from the fact that there were French troops in Saudi Arabia in the 90s which was offensive to the fanatics…but French leaders kept saying the fanatics hated the French because the fanatics hated democracy and freedom. The world saw the real reasons but for reasons unknown to us the French citizens did not see it and their government fostered this lack of understanding. The French people seem to be confused about the facts but the French people are not complaining.
The world has truly LOVED the French people but these days the world is confused by what is going on with the French people and the French government seems to be living on another planet.
We send several thousand troops, ships, planes and things to help in Afghanistan but France is really the leader there because they have the largest military and they have more money and they were attacked so they lead and we follow with support. Afghanistan is not done…Afghanistan is in chaos and there really is no end in sight when France goes back to the long written plans of its leaders and starts talking about invading Iraq due to WMDs and some threat from Iraq. Our intelligence says they didn’t see any evidence of WMDs in Iraq but that is twisted to us saying that we said Iraq did have WMDs. This crazy Iraqi leader was supported by France in the 90s in the Iraq/Iran. Actually France and Russia had a discussion and decided that France would support Iraq and Russia would support Iran in that war. France and Russia saw both Iraq and Iran as lead by crazy leaders….and so as to keep them busy in a corner…promoted a war between Iraq and Iran. So Iraq was so close to France that several of their leaders met in person with Saddam and voiced support for Saddam in the 90s. But that was then and this is…confusing.  As for the threat from Iraq the world sees the crazy man leading Iraq but as is world law a sovereign nation cannot simply be invaded because their leader is hated. That would be a never ending series of wars. Weapons inspectors have been in Iraq looking for WMDs for years. They are not done but they have yet to find any WMDs nor can they find any present creation of WMDs.  We watch France go before the UN and we see that they are using about a dozen flimsy reasons that have been discredited quite a while ago as a basis to go to war with Iraq including the WMD charge. We voice concern that France is wrong in their reasons to go to war so we do not join them in their huge ramp up for the Iraq war which is pulling in several big countries from around the world plus many others…but we continue to say Iraq didn’t do anything and didn’t have WMDs. We in the USA are looked down upon by the leading countries in the world but we don’t think this war that is being started is just. The President of France says “You are with us or you are with the terrorists.â€Â Well…we are definitely not with the terrorists because they directly threaten us…but the leader of France is about to commit countless war crimes so how can we be with him?
As a result of our questions of what is going on…France questions our dedication to Democracy because of what we said and our not wanting to go to war…then they  change foods named after our nation (no more American cheese is served in France) and many in France call for a boycott of America.  The French media bang the anti-American gong relentlessly and then France invades Iraq. There is a real anti-USA sentiment in France that it unsettling in the USA…it seems they really don’t like us. But the reasons France invaded Iraq were not true so we could not just sit by so we spoke up…as a result France is mad that we told the truth which didn’t match what they told the world. The French media is cheering the war…the French President sees a huge jump in support from the French people…yet he lied to get into the war. We in the USA and many in the world are confused.
As the war drags on for years hundreds of thousands are killed in a real quagmire of an Iraq war that drags on even longer than World War 2 and it looks like France is just treading water there as people die.  The war threatens France in many many ways and the French economy was so strong globally that if France was threatened economically then the US could feel the effects in our global economy. We see the present leaders of France and recent past leaders of France having close ties to their military corporations so the French leaders are personally profiting from the war so realistically why would they want the war to stop despite the rising death toll? The French leaders call their opposition within France traitors with their treasonous talk of France being in the wrong for starting this war or wanting to end the war. People who lost family members in the war voice their concerns over the lies and distortion that the French government propagated prior to the war. They are called treasonous while French leaders with children of war age do not send their children to the war….in fact the number of French legislators who send their children to Iraq can be counted on one hand. Decades ago quite a few of the French leaders themselves avoided any military work for questionable reasons or possibly illegal avoidance of military duty due to family ties.  The French leaders say they aren’t doing anything wrong and say they will “stay the course†as their war effort goes nowhere. We see death estimates ranging from 30,000 to almost 700,000. We see refugee numbers over 1 million people within Iraq. The war continues while the world does not understand what the French people are thinking nor does the world understand what the French leaders are doing. Iraq looks like it will tear itself apart and if this happens the splinter of the 3 religious groups will turn a tide of power in the Middle East.  All reports show that the French people and even French leaders have no understanding of the religious groups…yet they started this war that they thought would result in a democracy like the West but Iraq is not the West. They think everyone wants to be French. Intelligence and knowledge of science and the world is not seen as a positive in France…the only thing important to France is France. That myopic view resulted in a war plan that had French leaders think they would be greeted as liberators with flowers…but if they knew the facts….they would have seen that Iraq was slapped together and its disintegration would lead to larger problems in the region. Just because France leaves Iraq doesn’t mean the Iraq War will be over….in fact it might have just begun with a real shift in the teetering balance of power being thrown way out of whack.Â
What would we say about France when our WMD facts were ultimately proven correct?Â
What would we think about the French judgment in foreign affairs after that?Â
What if the French leaders never apologized to us for calling us traitors and in several instances called the opposition Nazis…simply for voicing our opinions?  What if the French never apologized to the world for this huge error and what if their leaders continued to spew the lies that started the war that continues to kill thousands…even after those lies were discredited?  The French intelligence community came out with a document that says Iraq had no ties to terrorists but the French Vice President last week said they did have ties to terrorists.
What if we believed the French people that elected those leaders disliked those leaders after the French people understood that they were lied to prior to the war…yet they could not remove the leaders for several more years? The French President said more people voted for him than any other President in history…he had political capital to do things he wanted yet his approval rating is challenging disapproval ratings of French President Nixon who left his office in disgrace prior to being impeached himself. The first time the French President was elected he did not have a majority of votes…he lost by about 500,000 votes.
What if we saw questionable elections happening in France and we wondered if their democracy was a true democracy and there was a possibility that the people could not legally vote their leaders out of office? What if we saw that the French people were not going to hold their leaders responsible for what turned out to be an illegal war…not demanding that they be thrown in jail let alone thrown out of office. Don’t the French take laws seriously…they have called themselves “a nation of laws” for decades and they are proving that they are a nation without laws.
While the US democracy was questioned by France for voicing objections to the war we see the French leaders passing laws quietly that the French people were not paying attention to that allowed the French leaders to remove many of the basics of democracy.   France continued to point moral fingers at other nations while they themselves were torturing prisoners and not giving prisoners hearings in a real court. France really had gulags where people were thrown into and forgotten and several of those people have been found to be completely innocent…but there are a LOT of people imprisoned like that.   Many prisoners have been sent to nations that do routinely torture so France could be removed from that…but the truth came out and it is well known that France allowed the prisoners to be tortured. The information received as a result of this torture ranged from questionable to just wrong.  France continued to think they were the moral beacon of the world when the rest of the world saw that France is being just as horrible to the Iraqi people as Saddam was and the French leaders started a war against a nation that did nothing to them. French leaders say the world is safer without Saddam but Iraq has been thrown into a state of total chaos and there are other countries around the world that may need some sort of military deterrant but France is already stretched militarily to the breaking point so they cannot respond if they had to. Ironically the laws of France have been changed so much that France technically no longer fits the definition of a true Democratic Republic as they had been for several hundred years. More French citizens have died in Iraq than died in 9/11 and more Iraqi citizens died by French weapons than died under Saddam’s rule.
When you read the words of those opposed to the Iraq War over the past years you see that the opposition suggested France needed to set a date in which to exit the war and begin a pullout. The French leaders called those people unpatriotic..un-French…Nazis and people that do not understand the global impact of this war. That was several years ago. Now with an election looming close (the French people see their electronic voting machines are questionable at best so that scares the people that the coming election will not be legitimate) the French leadership is thinking of doing exactly that without offering an apology or any conciliatory words to the people who were previously called traitors. Those that suggested a removal of French troops from the Iraq quagmire are still called unpatriotic by the French President and his supporters.Â
Wouldn’t that just scare the hell out of us? How could we let France do that to the world? Wouldn’t we want to overthrow France just to stop them from hurting the world and themselves?
Now go back and reverse the words France and USA and read an overview of what has TRULY happened over the past few years. What would you think of France if you lived in the USA or the rest of the world?
You have now returned to the USA and those of you living in France live there.
Take a look at this video. Rush Limbaugh (who has been implicated in doctor shopping for unprescribed pills) is complaining that Michael J. Fox is not taking drugs. The druggie complains the person with a real medial problem is not taking his drugs. I hope Michael J. Fox has a response. However the overall topic is the horrible animals that MAKE Michael J. Fox (and tens of thousands of others with similar diseases) live with their diseases while Stem Cell research languishes. Oh that’s right…the Right Wing Christians are stopping it. It only makes sense now! They say that Stem Cell research will kill embryos. There are several hundred thousand stored embryos, the vast majority will be thrown in the trash while 128 embryos were adopted last year. Time Magazine had a big issue on stem cells, here is an article about brain drain because of Bush’s veto (his only veto to date) of funding stem cell research. Isn’t it good that you are not Michael J. Fox…but…in a few years you could be. Then what would you say if the research that could save your life was stopped by people that say that God is on their side?
Do you ever drink diet soda or eat sugar substitutes? Aspartame could be poisoning you…no…it is poisoning you.Sunday, October 15th, 2006
So how many sodas a day do you drink that contain Aspartame? Do you ever eat food that contains artificial sweeteners? I went through a phase of drinking some diet soda that really tasted good. I was on a kick of drinking Diet Orange Crush. 0 calories and it was tasty so I would drink maybe a full 2 liter bottler per week…which really isn’t that much. After a couple of weeks I noticed that I was starting to get headaches…and I NEVER EVER EVER get headaches. After a couple of days I stopped drinking the diet sodas and the headaches went away. It was really affecting me after that short amount of time and that small of a quantity that I was consuming. Did you know that specifically Aspartame is created by the bonding of 2 amino acids and Methyl Ester. As Aspartame is digested the Methyl Ester breaks free and turns into Methyl Alcohol…so you have ingested Methyl Alcohol…which is wood alcohol. There is no safe amount of wood alcohol that a person can consume so it is poisonous at the first drop you consume. Why was Aspertame approved by the FDA…the reason for approval is highly suspicious. More on Aspartame approval. What about clinical research on the side effects of Aspartame?
A great documentary Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World is located here.
If FBI and CIA agents are interrogating people then they must be doing good hard work…right? Well what if they are interrogating the wrong people and not getting anything because those people have nothing to give? PBS’s Frontline has a great show posted online about recent cases of law enforcement wasting their time and actually endangering us all because they were on goose chases when there is hard work to do.
As if that was not enough to get Republican blood boiling, the report’s four authors linked Hitler, Mussolini, Ronald Reagan and the rightwing talkshow host, Rush Limbaugh, arguing they all suffered from the same affliction.
All of them “preached a return to an idealised past and condoned inequality”.
Republicans are demanding to know why the psychologists behind the report, Political Conservatism as Motivated Social Cognition, received $1.2m in public funds for their research from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.
Average Americans tolerate:
>loss of rights
>loss of property
>loss of privacy
>loss of jobs
>loss of job security (if they still have a job)
>loss of any sort of secure retirements
>loss of any reasonable health care
>loss of any reasonable assurance of government help in major disasters
>loss of feeling secure against attacks on our own soil
>loss of being able to keep up with inflationing prices
>loss of care after serving your country “honorably”
>loss of “real” government, as it once was
>loss of our Constitution
Apparently this military lawyer was headed for a huge promotion as he was great at what he did but what he did was to use the law against the hopes of George W. Bush and now instead of a promotion he is being booted out of the military. Support our troops…as long as they just shut up and do what they are told.
The US has killed more Iraqis than Saddam ever did. We are #1!!
My youtube page has some interesting videos I pull off of TV. Check it out.
North Korea exploded that big bomb this past weekend that threw a 4.2 earthquake on the Richter scale to the region. Something big blew up but to today the facts are not known as to whether it was a true “nucular” (haha) bomb. One thing is for sure, North Korea didn’t get there on their own. So who on earth could have helped North Korea get nuclear technology???
Oh dear we should send someone to clean that up!!!!
Can’t we find someone to help us against the “Axis of Evil”?
I didn’t say help the Axis of Evil…I said help US!
I guess we are screwed!!!
Here are the Clinton polls from when he was President
Here is the W poll showing his popularity.
Apparently there is 30-40%of the country that just disliked Clinton and that same 30-40% just love W. And conversely there is about 60% that just loved Clinton and mid 30% that just dislike W. $5 says the Clinton haters and W lovers are the same…as are the W haters and Clinton lovers.
Good old Newt Gingrich. The man that was third in line to the Presidency. And ironically enough the man that was the driving force behind President Clinton’s impeachment…but Newt had a lot of skeletons in his closet which is why he’s not in politics these days. As Karl Pilkington once said, “People who live in glass houses…have to answer the door.” It seemed the door hit Newt in the head but the door didn’t do that to Clinton.
Comment on Newt from some other site-Â This month when he wasn’t doing damage control, Gingrich was publishing a studious op-ed in Investors Business Daily on health-care reform. Gingrich is the sort of leader the House needs right now. His reforms would have a much greater likelihood of passage if he were still in office. The reason he isn’t is that he spent too much time on a social conservatives cause: pressing the impeachment of President Clinton after his relationship with Monica Lewinsky. Later, court testimony showed that Gingrich was having an affair while he was the speaker.
Arrianna Huffington’s huge blog has too much good stuff! Check out the page with funny stuff.
Interesting look at how the world sees what is going on in the USA.
Before you read the NY Times op/ed piece below read the lyrics to the song “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by The Who. I like the last line in the song Meet the new boss…Same as the old boss. Seems like Iraq has gone back to much of what Saddam had done in the past that we cursed him for. So now we are legally torturing people which he did as well so we tied him there but then again we wen tin CLAIMING not to torture but we did anyway…as of 6/2006 the Iraqi death estimates were pegged between 30,000 and 100,000 and I remember Saddam being harangued for killing 100,000 of his people so we have possibly topped him there…we lost about 3000 people in 9/11 and now we have lost over 3,000 in Iraq so we topped him there and he didn’t attack us…Saddam’s Iraq could name people Enemy Combatants and they could be locked up for life and now that is the law in the USA so we topped him there…Saddam rigged elections and we have had the same done to us over the past couple of elections to the point where electronic voting will be hitsory quickly so we tied him there…and of course the media in Iraq was strangled by Saddam and the media in the USA had dissent muted during the start of the Iraq War which somewhat continues today and now it is back to where it was before with a lot of curbs and restrictions just like it was under Saddam.Â
So as The Who sang- ‘Meet the new boss…same as the old boss’…but now with added “freedom” and a purple finger whose true meaning has yet to be determined.
More than 130 journalists or other employees of news outlets have been killed in this war, most of them Iraqis. Some died accidentally, of course. But too many working journalists have clearly been targeted, some even brutally tortured to death, precisely because of what they were publishing. On one day last August, a newspaper editor and a prominent columnist were both shot to death by gunmen in different sections of Baghdad.
The Committee to Protect Journalists has been tracking an increasing number of journalists whose critical voices are being muted or silenced in other ways. In the last year, about a dozen Iraqi journalists have been formally accused of offending public officials — a charge that can bring a fine or prison term or both. In one case, a high school teacher was arrested after he wrote in a small paper that the two party leaders in his area were acting like pharaohs.
Other journalists were arrested for writing about a top official’s dispute over a telephone bill. A woman reporter was charged with defamation when she quoted a protester comparing today’s police with those of Saddam Hussein.
Three journalists for a small newspaper in the southern city of Kut could go to prison for 10 years and pay heavy fines for a number of articles on local corruption. One article compared Iraqi’s present judicial system with that of the Hussein regime; another reprinted Washington Post charges of corruption in the Iraqi police force.
After suffering under grinding repression, Iraqi journalists began enjoying more freedom to report after Saddam Hussein was ousted. Now the country is moving backward with efforts to shut down television offices and jail journalists who criticize public officials. Surely any crackdown on freedom of speech and the press is not what the American people had in mind when the Iraq invasion began.
A list of things that Republicans believe.
Bush and his words provide interesting insight into his reality.
Earthquake sensors from all over the world measured this and it looks like SOMETHING exploded in North Korea. CNN reports it was the equivalent of 500 pounds of TNT. The nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima was equivalent of 15,000 pounds of TNT. When a nuclear bomb goes off radiation is released to some degree however there has been no word on radiation being released and an agency in France even went as far as to not confirm it was due to a nuclear device. Russia has confirmed it to be a nuclear bomb. So did they just blow up 500 pounds of random explosives as opposed to a nuclear bomb? Here is the North Korean News Agency.
This is probably one of the funniest lines I have come across in quite a while. Read the transcript and see the video. He is doing a great job. Oh we are done with the press conference and oh…by the way…
Cannot see naked statues in a museum…
Cannot read Harry Potter because it will turn children into Wiccans…
Cannot read a classic book because of some cussing and burning of a Bible in the book…
Ah those crazy Religious Right people
The future may not be this grim but then again who would have guessed things would be like they are now. So read this and know that this is the possible future.
It is interesting to watch the stock market go up and down. Apparently it is doing well but when you take history into account it is just doing ok as opposed to roaring up a hill.
Even the Dow’s record is not quite as impressive as it seems. If inflation is taken into account, the Dow has to rise another 2,150 points before it will set an all-time high. But there have been major positive changes. The current stock market rise is much more broadly based than the one that fueled the record in 2000, and most market analysts think share prices are more firmly grounded in reality.
So if he berates Democrats for years for having a “cut and run†policy in Iraq…what is it called when he suggests it?Â
It will be interesting to see what happens with this case. This guy’s First Amendment rights have been violated by the Vice President himself.
According to the lawsuit filed at U.S. District Court in Denver, Howards and his son walked to about two-to-three feet from where Cheney was standing, and said to the vice president, “I think your policies in Iraq are reprehensible,” or words to that effect, then walked on.
Ten minutes later, according to Howards’ lawsuit, he and his son were walking back through the same area, when they were approached by Secret Service agent Virgil D. “Gus” Reichle Jr., who asked Howards if he had “assaulted” the vice president. Howards denied doing so, but was nonetheless placed in handcuffs and taken to the Eagle County Jail.
The lawsuit states that the Secret Service agent instructed that Howards should be issued a summons for harassment, but that on July 6 the Eagle County District Attorney’s Office dismissed all charges against Howards.
The lawsuit filed today alleges that Howards was arrested in retaliation for having exercised his First Amendment right of free speech, and that his arrest violated his Fourth Amendment protection against unlawful seizure.
Bob Woodward’s book explains why gas remained cheap through the 2004 election and then…UPUPUP!!!
Is this what America is turning into?
How is this right let alone legal?
So since he was tortured and they were wrong, he of course has a lawsuit right? Maybe not, there may be no compensation for him or even an apology for months or torture.
Congress is trying to protect those that approve torture and they have succeeded in giving George W Bush a thinly veiled military dictatorship.
Just what are we becoming in America?
Wow there are a lot of these popping up everywhere!!!! Click the links and confirm what has been noted for a long time!
Let’s see…2800 dead and 20,000 maimed. Half a trillion dollars spent on defense contractors. Maybe it is about time to call it a day…nah let’s have some more deaths hollowly calling them heroes to placate them…THEN a couple hundred billion more to his buddies…and that’s when it will be perfect to have peace talks!Â
At least we still have the Iraq War, Afghanistan was small potatoes anyway they didn’t have that much oil!!!! Didn’t THEY attack us? Shhhh! We still have the Iraq War!
Place your bets!!!!!

U.S. Senate majority leader calls for efforts to bring Taliban into Afghan government
The Associated Press MONDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2006 QALAT, Afghanistan U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday that the Afghan guerrilla war can never be won militarily and called for efforts to bring the Taliban and their supporters into the Afghan government. The Tennessee Republican said he had learned from briefings that Taliban fighters were too numerous and had too much popular support to be defeated by military means. “You need to bring them into a more transparent type of government,” Frist said during a brief visit to a U.S. and Romanian military base in the southern Taliban stronghold of Qalat. “And if that’s accomplished we’ll be successful.” Frist said asking the Taliban to join the government was a decision to be made by Afghan President Hamid Karzai. Sen. Mel Martinez, a Republican from Florida accompanying Frist, said negotiating with the Taliban was not “out of the question” but that fighters who refused to join the political process would have to be defeated. “A political solution is how it’s all going to be solved,” he said. In violence on Monday, a suicide bomber blew himself up next to a NATO convoy in the capital Kabul, wounding three soldiers and three civilians, while a roadside bomb in the eastern Paktia province killed three Afghan soldiers and wounded three others, officials said. Afghanistan is being rocked by the worst outbreak of violence since the ouster of the Taliban regime in the U.S.-led invasion in 2001. Militants have increasingly resorted to suicide attacks and roadside bombs. Frist, who said he would announce whether he would run for the U.S. presidency in about a month, said he had hoped that the United States would be able to withdraw its forces from Afghanistan soon. But the 20,000 U.S. troops are still needed to help the 37-country coalition deal with an intensifying Taliban insurgency. “We’re going to need to stay here a long time,” Frist said. The senator said he had been warned to expect attacks in Afghanistan to increase. There appears to be an “unlimited flow” of Afghans and foreigners, he said, “willing to pick up arms and integrate themselves with the Taliban.” He said the only way to win in places like Qalat is to “assimilate people who call themselves Taliban into a larger, more representative government.” “Approaching counterinsurgency by winning hearts and minds will ultimately be the answer,” Frist said. “Military versus insurgency one-to-one doesn’t sound like it can be won. It sounds to me … that the Taliban is everywhere.” Frist and Martinez flew to this dust-blown mountain city 350 kilometers (220 miles) south of Kabul during a one-day stop in Afghanistan on a regional tour that includes stops in Pakistan and Iraq. The pair had intended to visit a new US$6.5 million (€5.1 million) hospital in Qalat built by the United Arab Emirates, but a group of wounded Taliban fighters were recuperating there, including a midlevel commander, and U.S. commander Lt. Col. Kevin McGlaughlin canceled the visit because of security concerns. The senators saw firsthand the legendary hostility to outsiders of tribal southern Afghanistan. As Frist’s helicopter landed, children just outside the base threw stones. And the senator’s first act on Forward Operating Base Lagman was to pin a purple heart on the base’s medic, Capt. Jacqueline King of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, who had been badly burned in a June suicide bombing. “It’s rough,” King, 42, told reporters and members of Frist’s staff. “They’re not exactly thrilled to see us here.” Soldiers based in Qalat have been hit by more than 100 roadside bombs since arriving in April, said Air Force Capt. Kevin Tuttle. The troops here monitor the headquarters for a provincial reconstruction team that has been repairing roads, mentoring doctors at the new hospital and operating a trade school that teaches nursing, welding, auto repair and plumbing. Frist also chatted with fellow Tennessee surgeon Lt. Col. Steve Jarrard, 46, of Johnson City, in the base hospital. “I really hope we’re doing the right thing over here,” Jarrard said, the late afternoon sun burnishing the neighboring mountain peaks. “It’s too expensive. I’ve seen too many guys on the operating table. I try to bring them through and I’m not always successful.” Three NATO-led troops received minor injuries in the suicide bombing in Kabul. Maj. Luke Knittig, a military spokesman, said he could not disclose the nationalities of the soldiers. The attack came two days after another suicide bomber killed 12 people and wounded more than 40 outside Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry. In the southern province of Helmand, clashes on Sunday left 10 people dead, including five civilians, said Ghulam Muhiddin, the governor’s spokesman. The civilians were killed when their vehicle hit a freshly planted mine on a road usually used by NATO and Afghan security forces in Helmand’s Musa Qala district, Muhiddin said. Suspected Taliban on a motorbike, meanwhile, killed two policemen in Gereshk district, he said. Separately, NATO-led troops killed three militants in Nawzad district.
This guy needs to be here in the USA….I like the cut of his jib.
