The Iraqi refugee problem we don’t hear about

An Iraqi blogger blogs on Saddam’s execution

Friday, December 29th, 2006

Why make things worse by insisting on Saddam’s execution now? Who gains if they hang Saddam? Iran, naturally, but who else? There is a real fear that this execution will be the final blow that will shatter Iraq. Some Sunni and Shia tribes have threatened to arm their members against the Americans if Saddam is executed. Iraqis in general are watching closely to see what happens next, and quietly preparing for the worst.

This is because now, Saddam no longer represents himself or his regime. Through the constant insistence of American war propaganda, Saddam is now representative of all Sunni Arabs (never mind most of his government were Shia). The Americans, through their speeches and news articles and Iraqi Puppets, have made it very clear that they consider him to personify Sunni Arab resistance to the occupation. Basically, with this execution, what the Americans are saying is “Look- Sunni Arabs- this is your man, we all know this. We’re hanging him- he symbolizes you.” And make no mistake about it, this trial and verdict and execution are 100% American. Some of the actors were Iraqi enough, but the production, direction and montage was pure Hollywood (though low-budget, if you ask me).

The Grand Canyon was created by Noah’s Flood?

Friday, December 29th, 2006

Washington, DC — Grand Canyon National Park is not permitted to give an official estimate of the geologic age of its principal feature, due to pressure from Bush administration appointees. Despite promising a prompt review of its approval for a book claiming the Grand Canyon was created by Noah’s flood rather than by geologic forces, more than three years later no review has ever been done and the book remains on sale at the park, according to documents released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER).   Story is here / Check out the comments here

Both should be stopped.

Let’s review some truths of the Iraq War:
No WMD.
WMD poisons they had were sold to them by us and we knew they were aged and useless now.
Colin Powell’s speech urging war at the UN had mostly false information that was proven false prior to the speech.
Oil is expensive and analysts say next year will be worse.
No Osama found.
Saddam was propped up by the US for decades until he was going to change to selling oil using Euros instead of Dollars.
True gigantic holes in borders and ports etc. not patched.
Kuwait Gulf war fought with 500,000 troops for small area and few citizenry…Iraq War fought with 150,000 troops for 25,000,000 Iraqi citizens and very large nation shows this war was NEVER done seriously.
The plan in Iraq is unknown literally to everyone because there is none.
The British send Royal family members into war so why don’t we?
All of those are true and they all demand a question be asked-
Why are we in Iraq?
As Eisenhower warned: “We should take nothing for granted, only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together. … We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow.”

Money is why almost 3000 of our soldiers have died and 50,000 have been injured over there.  Almost 700,000 Iraqis have died and over 1 million being displaced.  We have been lied to in order for the super rich to get richer.  That is the reason behind the Iraq War.  Those that led us into war claimed to be speaking to God and Gold (ironically I made a typo that I caught in re-reading this after typing it but the typo is actually MORE correct and should stay) told them what to do but ironically those that led us into war have the US Dollar as a God, which has nothing to do with the things that Christians/God believers believe.  This is what is said of the fanatic Muslims that were to blame for 9/11 but the same thing SHOULD be said of those that led us into the resulting war.  Both should be stopped.

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

I had another post on how diet sodas kill people, now it is more mainstream sodas that are filled with poison.  This shows how the regulators we have in the US have known about this issue for 15 years and the soda companies were supposed to do something about it.  Apparently they have done nothing.  This is what happens when the regualtion of your health is handed over to the industries that really only care about the bottom line.  This is how deregulation will kill you while corporations make millions.  Video is here

And the oil company that spilled it doesn’t have to pay for it?
Story is here
The oil companies are so GIVING in the cold season.  Amazing that the only company that said YES below is the national Venezuelan owned oil company that is the “enemy” now because it is owned by Hugo Chavez’s nation.  If they did not sell oil at a discount then there would have been a lot of cold people in Alaska.
Story is here
“We approached every major oil company and every OPEC nation last year to ask that a small slice of their record profits go to help the poor,” Kennedy said in a late-November press release. “Only one company-Citgo-and only one nation-Venezuela-stepped up to the plate to offer a helping hand.”
So what about those oil companies not helping the poor people?
45He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
Why does America allow oil companies to be such horrible corporate citizens?  Because we have an oil man in the White House and we live in an environment of Corporatism which diminishes the rights of the individual and enhances the rights of the corporation.  This is all allowed and led by the Republicans who are looking at the dollar as a god and people as expendable and expensible.

Did the gas prices really drop prior to the election and rise after?  The answer is here
Bush’s approval rating vs the cost of gas is here.  This always amazes me that people are so fickle as to like to dislike the President as to what happened last week.  I guess this goes to prove that Americans don’t pay attention to the news and they don’t take things very seriously otherwise they would make up their minds and stick with it.  This would be bad news for W of course since he has been lousy since day 1.
The cost of gas is on the rise and that’s a fact.

Clarity comes with listening to people.

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

So when you listen to someone talk there is a meter in your head.  This meter is something that everyone has.  The meter is judging what the person is saying and the meter then reports back to you.  Often times the meter reports that the person is correct and they are making a persuasive argument as to what is happening and possibly what should be done.  Other times the meter reports back to you that the person is completely lost.  The person does not have command of the facts nor do they have command of the situation that is in front of their face.  Often times listening to people, even the latter, is a good thing because what that does is to clarify in your mind what the issue is and what should be done about a situation.  If you are interested in hearing someone who has no grasp of what is actually happening in reality nor what should be done about it check this out.  This guy is like Colbert but I think he is trying to tell the truth whereas Colbert is a master of satire in using words to say one thing however the context of those words makes the listener hear another.  So the fact that that guy is trying to actually say what he is thinking is quite scary.

Merry Christmas everyone

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

With the Jew who stole Christmas controversy heavy on the minds of the weary travelers at the Seattle-Tacoma Airport and the Democrats taking control of the House and the Senate there is likely to be a renewed fear that the Liberals want kill the baby Jesus and destroy Christmas. Because killing a holiday on which the economy is dependent and getting this holiday off our work calendar is at the top of the list of every card carrying member of the ACLU. Christians, as it turns out, have typically been their own worst enemies when it comes to destroying religious holidays. They turned All Holy Eve into Halloween and Candlemas into Groundhogs Day. The point is Christmas, and most of its traditions, were never really Christian to begin with.

Let’s talk the Iran-Iraq War…and let’s toss in the Kuwait Gulf War 1 as well

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

Prior to the Iran-Iraq War the two nations had been enemies and religious brothers alternating apparently yearly from 2000 BC to the present so to incite them to fight was esy to do.  When you check out this article you will see how Russia backed Iran and Israel sold aircraft and ordinance to Iran as did the US.  The US also sold the same to Iraq along with the chemical WMDs.  So Saddam is sitting on all of these poisons…

A video on the history of oil and the wars that have been waged for it.

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

You might say a 45 minute video is a bit long to watch but you would be wrong.  This is an amazing video that looks at the truth behind how oil drives everything in our economy and the coming change of the monitization of oil could bring a huge economic downturn in the US.  This change was started by Iraq, North Korea and now Iran is next to do it.  Interesting that they are the “axis of evil” and that is the reason.  The changes that will occur with this shift will hugely impact how things work in the US and it is inevitable and it is just down the road.  Video is here

The real reason we invaded Iraq was not told to us and has not been told to us.

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

Please read this article about Iran going off of the Dollar standard for their oil trading and then read the article below.

President Richard Nixon removed U.S. currency from the gold standard in 1971. Since then, the world’s supply of oil has been traded in U.S. fiat dollars, making the dollar the dominant world reserve currency. Countries must provide the United States with goods and services for dollars — which the United States can freely print. To purchase energy and pay off any IMF debts, countries must hold vast dollar reserves. The world is attached to a currency that one country can produce at will. This means that — in addition to controlling world trade – the United States is importing substantial quantities of goods and services for very low relative costs.

The Euro has begun to emerge as a serious threat to dollar hegemony and U.S. economic dominance. The dollar may prevail throughout the Western Hemisphere, but the Euro and dollar are clashing in the former Soviet Union, Central Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East.

In November 2000, Iraq became the first OPEC nation to begin selling its oil for Euros. Since then, the value of the Euro has increased 17%, and the dollar has begun to decline. One important reason for the invasion and installation of a U.S. dominated government in Iraq was to force the country back to the dollar. Another reason for the invasion is to dissuade further OPEC momentum toward the Euro, especially from Iran- the second largest OPEC producer, who was actively discussing a switch to Euros for its oil exports.

It is estimated that the dollar is currently overvalued by at least 40%, burdening the United States with a huge trade deficit. Conversely, the euro-zone does not run huge deficits, uses higher interest rates, and has an increasingly larger share of world trade. As the euro establishes its durability and comes into wider use, the dollar will no longer be the world’s only option. At that point, it would be easier for other nations to exercise financial leverage against the United States without damaging themselves or the global financial system as a whole.

Faced with waning international economic power, military superiority is the United States’ only tool for world domination. Although, the expense of this military control is unsustainable, says William Clark, “one of the dirty little secrets of today’s international order is that the rest of the globe could topple the United States from its hegemonic status whenever they so choose with a concerted abandonment of the dollar standard. This is America’s preeminent, inescapable Achilles Heel.” If American power is ever perceived globally as a greater liability than the dangers of toppling the international order, the U.S. systems of control can be eliminated and collapsed. When acting against world opinion – as in Iraq – an international consensus could brand the United States as a “rogue nation.”

At the time this article was written, the suggestion that Iraq’s move to selling oil for euros had something to do with the US threatening war against the country was just a theory. It still is a theory, but a theory which subsequent US actions have done little to dispel: the US has invaded Iraq, installed its own authority to rule the country and as soon as Iraqi oil became available to sell on the world market, it was announced that payment would be in dollars only (1). But the story doesn’t end there: the US trade deficit is still widening and the dollar falling. More and more oil exporters are talking openly about selling their commodity for euros instead of greenbacks. While Indonesia has only been considering it (2), Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dr Mahathir has been strongly encouraging his country’s oil industry to actually do it (3), which has led the European Union’s Energy Commissioner, Loyola de Palacio, to comment that she could see the euro replacing the dollar as the main currency for oil pricing (4). Iran meanwhile has been giving all the signs that it is about to switch to the euro: it has been issuing eurobonds, converting its foreign exchange reserves from dollars to euros and having warm trade negotiations with the EU. According to one recent report it has even started selling its oil to Europe for euros and encouraging Asian customers to pay in euros too (5). Should US talk of ‘regime change’ in Iran not be seen in the light of these facts? The media largely appear to think not since there has been little discussion of the dollar-euro connection with the ‘war on terror’. What discussion there has been may well be expanded upon in the future as neither the threat to the dollar and the US economy or the US threat to world peace are likely to go away any time soon.

Sean Penn gives a speech on the First Amendment

What is impeachment? It’s not a Democratic versus Republican event. Not if used responsibly. If the House of Representatives votes to impeach this president, is he thrown out of office? No, he is not thrown out of office. That is not what impeachment is. Impeachment is the opportunity to proceed with accountability and give our elected senators, democratic and republican, the power to pursue a thorough investigation. The power to put the truth on the table. Mothers and fathers are losing their kids to horrifying deaths in this war every single day. Horrible deaths. Horrible maimings. Were crimes committed in enlisting the support of our country in this decision to go to war? For the moment we’re living the most spineless of scenarios; where the hawks abused impeachment eight years ago, now, the rest of us politely refuse to use it today. Let’s give the whistle-blowers cover, let’s get the subpoenas out there, and then, one by one, put this administration under oath. And then, if the crimes of “Treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors” are proven, do as Article 2, Section 4 of the United States Constitution provides, and remove “the President, Vice President and…civil officers of the United States” from office. If the Justice Department then sees fit to bunk them up with Jeff Skilling, so be it.

911 First Responder dying due to lack of decent insurance plan

FOX VIDEO:  911 First Responder dying due to lack of decent health insurance plan

This should disgust everyone who sees this video.  This is a 9-11 first responder who does not have a health care plan that actually covers his bills.  This is an animalistic practice that is so common in the US.  How does this man have all of these ailments after trying to save lives and how does he NOT receive proper health care without going bankrupt?  His creditors are calling him to pay his incidental bills and medical bills and he is DYING after trying to save people in the World Trade Center attack.  The topic of National Health Care is not discussed in this video but it is tip toed around in every word that is said in this clip.  Those that have any sense of decency hear NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN screamed with every breath that is said in this video.  This shows what people go through when the national health plan favors the STOCKHOLDER and CORPORATION as opposed to the people that are actually sick.  The state of New York apparently had a judgment against this man and they are supposed to pay this man a considerable sum of money for some reason.  But they are not paying him.  So he is not getting the proper health care he needs and is basically dying as a result.  BUT HE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO RELY ON THIS JUDGMENT JUST TO PAY HIS MEDICAL BILLS!!!!  His wife tells how creditors are calling them and how they have to beg for money just to pay for the basics of life and medical bills.  These are not wild spending people.  These are boring average Americans who tried to save the lives of other boring average Americans and this man is now dying and he is being harangued because he doesn’t have a decent health care plan.  His family will be paying his medical bills for decades…and America accepts this???  How can this be?  How blatantly and bald face murderous does the corporatist American health care system have to be before the 300,000,000 people of America rise up and demand better for this man than to allow him to die an indebted pauper embarrassed by his bills and creditors after he tried to save people’s lives himself as a hero?  Not only he deserves this but everyone in America deserves this just like every other non animalistic developed nation in the world ALREADY HAS.  If you remember the interview that Mike Wallace had with the Iranian President Ahmadinejad you would see the Iranian President laugh at Mike Wallace as they discuss the fact that America does not have a national health care plan but every other nation DOES.  So you tell me now how America is #1 when things like this are ALLOWED to happen and we ALLOW people to DIE because we simply put health care at the bottom of our priority list.  And you tell me when America will be ready to stop this practice that kills people.
Please Google AMERICA HEALTH CARE CRISIS for disturbing details on the 50,000,000 people in the US who have no health insurance plan at all and how the rest of us not only pay more than we should for them due to a lack of a plan but those people die needlessly as a result.

Some sense in religion?

Saturday, December 16th, 2006

So when did the focus of Christianity shift from the unconditional love and acceptance preached by Christ to the hate and condemnation spewed forth by certain groups today? Some say it was during the rise of Conservative Christianity in the early 1980s with political action groups like the Moral Majority. Others say it goes way back to the 300s, when Rome’s Christian Emperor Constantine initiated a set of laws limiting the rights of Roman non-Christians. Regardless of the origin, one thing is crystal clear: It’s not what Jesus stood for.  Story is here

Adolescents and adults now spend, on average, more than 64 days a year watching television, 41 days listening to the radio and a little over a week using the Internet. Among adults, 97 million Internet users sought news online last year, 92 million bought a product, 91 million made a travel reservation, 16 million used a social or professional networking site and 13 million created a blog.  Americans drank more than 23 gallons of bottled water per person in 2004 — about 10 times as much as in 1980. We consumed more than twice as much high fructose corn syrup per person as in 1980 and remained the fattest inhabitants of the planet, although Mexicans, Australians, Greeks, New Zealanders and Britons are not too far behind.  This eclectic portrait of the American people is drawn from the 1,376 tables in the Census Bureau’s 2007 Statistical Abstract of the United States, the annual feast for number crunchers that is being served up by the federal government today.

No end in sight to the wars is just where we shoud be, considering who began the war

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Below is a comment to the entry written by Lawrence O’Donnell on Huffingtonpost.

Even when he is right he is wrong. There was never any possibility of victory. Bush and his cabal lied about everything to scare the nation into a war the cabal had been daydreaming about since before they ever hitched their wagon to his name. Their delusions of grandeur are going to be more like infamy. They hyped and inflated phony intelligence from sources their own people knew to be untrustworthy, already discredited liars. They sought to destroy, (and did), anyone who dared speak the truth. They threatened and intimidated anyone who had the temerity to ask, ‘and then what?’ in regard to planning for after the invasion. They worked hard to destroy the infrastructure whether it was water, the power grid or any semblance of a civil service. These are the same guys who ran in 2000 proclaiming Democrats too adventurist in foriegn affairs and said ‘nation building’ was a wasteful exercise in futility. Hussein is a rotten bastard, no doubt. but since Bush unleashed the dogs of war the misery and death has increased significantly. We were careful to try Hussein for crimes committed when we were no longer his patron benefactor. The impetus is now to let them fight it out amongst themselves, which is basically what the world had hoped for during the more then ten years of constant bombing prior to sending in ground troops. That is what Bush Sr was hoping for when he so calamatously and disingenuously encouraged the Kurds to rise up during his junta. One of Husseins sons would have eventually killed the other in the struggle to succeed him. There would then be the violent suppression and likely civil war as the minority Sunni’s tried to maintain supremecy. Bush has merely sped up the process, altered the list of players, wasted our soldiers and our honor, sullied the Constitution, alienated our allies, wasted the national treasure and put a hell of a lot of blood on our hands. A chauvanist is a person who believes in a lost, even moot cause. Once again, Rush proudly defines the term.
