As Senate Republicans added blocking aid to small business to their record-setting obstructionism, Democrats this week failed to secure the needed votes for reform of the filibuster rule. But largely overlooked in the debate over the filibuster is the Republicans’ unprecedented obstructionism when it comes to the confirmation of President Obama’s judicial nominees. As it turns out, while the GOP in the 111th Congress has turned to the filibuster at more than double the previous Democratic rates, Barack Obama’s nominees to the federal bench are half as likely to be confirmed. Do you make generally over $300,000. Do you make over $300,000 per year yes or no? If you answer is yes then the Bush Tax Cuts being repealed will see you pay more in taxes. Then again those people have more…so they should pay more…which has been the morality since Biblical times. Story is located here
This clip of Anthony Weiner going ballistic on the House floor is one for the ages — it should be watched again and again and again, and not only because he was angry and frustrated, but because he spoke a truth that all of us expect from our representatives. It’s really quite simple: “If you believe that it’s right, you vote yes. You don’t hide behind procedure and give cover to your pals.”
It’s really that simple, but here’s the backstory. The House has been trying to re-open the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund through 2031 for 9/11 responders whose health has been affected. Story and video are here
Video of the aftermath- Rep King and Weiner discuss the kerfluffle from the day before. Video is located here
94% of Democrats voted FOR providing health care to 9/11 responders. Republicans needed 12 more votes to make the bill pass in the House but they just didn’t have enough support for it. The vote failed 255-159 along party lines. Republicans did not want 9/11 responders to have health care insurance. Video is located here
July 30 (Bloomberg) — Samuel Wyly and Charles Wyly, the Texan brothers and entrepreneurs who funded ads helping George W. Bush’s presidential campaigns, were sued by U.S. regulators who accused them of misleading investors while selling hundreds of millions of dollars in stock.
The Wylys used “an elaborate sham system of trusts and subsidiary companies” in the Isle of Man and Cayman Islands over a 13-year period to hide control of securities linked to companies where they were board members, the Securities and Exchange Commission said yesterday in a lawsuit filed in New York federal court. They illegally kept investors in the dark as they sold off holdings, and in one case made illegal insider trades, the SEC said. Story is located here

Myth: Social Security is going broke.
Reality: There is no Social Security crisis. By 2023, Social Security will have a $4.6 trillion surplus (yes, trillion with a ‘T’). It can pay out all scheduled benefits for the next quarter-century with no changes whatsoever.1 After 2037, it’ll still be able to pay out 75% of scheduled benefits–and again, that’s without any changes. The program started preparing for the Baby Boomers retirement decades ago.2 Anyone who insists Social Security is broke probably wants to break it themselves.
Myth: We have to raise the retirement age because people are living longer.
Reality: This is red-herring to trick you into agreeing to benefit cuts. Retirees are living about the same amount of time as they were in the 1930s. The reason average life expectancy is higher is mostly because many fewer people die as children than did 70 years ago.3 What’s more, what gains there have been are distributed very unevenly–since 1972, life expectancy increased by 6.5 years for workers in the top half of the income brackets, but by less than 2 years for those in the bottom half.4 But those intent on cutting Social Security love this argument because raising the retirement age is the same as an across-the-board benefit cut.
Myth: Benefit cuts are the only way to fix Social Security.
Reality: Social Security doesn’t need to be fixed. But if we want to strengthen it, here’s a better way: Make the rich pay their fair share. If the very rich paid taxes on all of their income, Social Security would be sustainable for decades to come.5 Right now, high earners only pay Social Security taxes on the first $106,000 of their income.6 But conservatives insist benefit cuts are the only way because they want to protect the super-rich from paying their fair share.
Myth: The Social Security Trust Fund has been raided and is full of IOUs
Reality: Not even close to true. The Social Security Trust Fund isn’t full of IOUs, it’s full of U.S. Treasury Bonds. And those bonds are backed by the full faith and credit of the United States.7 The reason Social Security holds only treasury bonds is the same reason many Americans do: The federal government has never missed a single interest payment on its debts. President Bush wanted to put Social Security funds in the stock market–which would have been disastrous–but luckily, he failed. So the trillions of dollars in the Social Security Trust Fund, which are separate from the regular budget, are as safe as can be.
Myth: Social Security adds to the deficit
Reality: It’s not just wrong — it’s impossible! By law, Social Security funds are separate from the budget, and it must pay its own way. That means that Social Security can’t add one penny to the deficit.1

Last week Target Corporation gave $150,000 to Minnesota Forward, which is using the money to run TV ads for Republican Tom Emmer’s campaign for Minnesota governor. Emmer has connections to anti-gay groups. This donation, clearly acceptible under the new Citizens United Supreme Court ruling angered many in the state, seeing this as a $150,000 contribution to fund ant-gay politics. One Eden Prairie mom and grandmother took her anger directly to a Target. Her repeated attempts to get to Target executives failed so she took her Target Charge Card. A $226 purchase on that card was immediately returned for credit and she scissored her Target card into little pieces to be used no more. Video is located here

The great thing about this action is that she showed them specifically how much they lost because of their action. Yes it is just a nuisance to the workers but the action also shows a solid way they have lost business. Hopefully this will spread and Target will feel the effect of this.
The first rule of tax cuts is that they cut taxes.
“Not all budgetary dollars are created equal,” said Alan Blinder, professor and co-director of Princeton University’s Center for Economic Policy Studies, in a conference Wednesday morning. “Some have a lot of bang for the buck, and some have very little. The GDP increase per dollar of budgetary cost is in the range of 1.6, 1.7 for things like food stamps and unemployment benefits, and in the range of .35 for extending the Bush tax cuts. We could get some substantial job creation by simply reprogramming the $75 billion that would be saved over the next two years by not extending the upper-bracket Bush tax cuts and spending it instead on unemployment benefits, food stamps, and the like.”
Blinder’s economic advice supports the tax policy of President Obama and the Democrats, who would like to maintain tax cuts for 95 percent of Americans, while letting the cuts for those with incomes above $250,000 expire. Letting the tax cuts lapse is projected to trim approximately $675 billion from the deficit over 10 years, according to the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities. Story is located here

The real reason behind Arizona’s 1070 immigration law is that politicians will make money off of it.Wednesday, July 28th, 2010
A CBS 5 News investigation revealed that there is one business that could profit from the implementation of SB 1070 and similar immigration measures. The private prison industry houses illegal immigrant detainees for the federal government. Those companies could gain contracts with state and local agencies to house illegal immigrants arrested for state violations.Corrections Corporation of America, or CCA, holds the federal contract to house detainees in Arizona. The company bills $11 million per month. CBS 5 Investigates learned that two of Brewer’s top advisers have connections to CCA.Paul Senseman is the governor’s deputy chief of staff. He is also a former lobbyist for CCA. His wife is listed as a current lobbyist for the company.Chuck Coughlin is one of the governor’s policy advisers and her campaign chairman. Coughlin’s company, HighGround Public Affairs Consultants, currently lobbies for CCA.

This is another crazy look at life by the GOP. They are more than happy to deny women their rights over their own bodies by controlling whether they can or cannot get abortions…but do not stop 2% of the nation who want their $5,000 showerheads to shoot them in the shower from 8 different directions. Law passed in 1992 states showerheads can only produce 2.5 gallons per minute however the shower manufacturers have not seen enforcement of this law. This saves electricity and water. Showerheads hitting people from 8 different directions use upwards of 12 gallons per minute.
So why are Republicans upset that laws are being enforced? Why do they want to break the law? Why do CONSERVATIVES not want to CONSERVE water? Why do they want the GOVERNMENT to tell a woman what to do with their bodies in much more serious circumstances and who can marry who…but they want the government out of their shower stall. The Republican cry is…GET YOUR GOVERNMENT OUT OF MY LIFE UNTIL I WANT IT PLACED SQUARELY IN YOUR LIFE. They are the Something For Nothing Party indeed! Story is located here.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to be limited to senior citizens. Over the past couple of months, the Chamber of Commerce has taken great pains to misinform small businesses about what the Affordable Care Act does for them, too. But out of nearly 700 seniors quizzed about what health-care reform meant for them, not one was able to get all of the answers right. Story is located here
Even as BP shareholders celebrate CEO Tony Hayward’s impending departure, many have been quick to raise concerns about how much the beleaguered executive will be paid when he heads out the door. After Hayward steps down in October, he will reportedly receive roughly $930,000 per year in pension payments–as well as a one-time severance payout worth about $1.6 million. With stock shares and stock options included, the total size of his package could swell to $18 million, according to one estimate. Story is located here
So why should we care? Why should we care that those CEOs make such an obscene amount of money? It is part of this story which is the direction that the nation is going so YES it is very important and represents the problem directly.
Top 10 things that Republicans want to do once back in power – This is the GOP agenda for 2011 or anytime they get into powerWednesday, July 28th, 2010
For the better part of the past year, Republicans have tried to come up with a new agenda for the American people with mixed results. However, with the Tea Party now the most potent force in Republican politics, and with the recent launch of the Tea Party Caucus on Capitol Hill garnering the support of Republican leaders like National Republican Congressional Committee Chair Pete Sessions and Republican Caucus Chair Mike Pence, the Republican Party agenda has become clear. Republican leaders and Tea Party-supported Republican candidates can now rally around the “Republican Tea Party Contract on America” as the blueprint for how they would govern. Story is located here
While working on his article published yesterday in the New York Times highlighting the right-wing media’s “misleading coverage,” reporter Brian Stelter did some background research into cable news viewership demographics. While he didn’t include the findings in his story, he found them notable enough to publish on Twitter. The Huffington Post summarizes the results:
The New York Times’ Brian Stelter tweeted that, according to Nielsen Media Research, Fox News has averaged just 29,000 black viewers in primetime so far this television season (9/09-7/10). That represents just 1.38% of its 2.102 million total viewer audience.
CNN and MSNBC, meanwhile, both have far more black viewers, both in absolute terms and as a proportion of their overall audiences.

Can it be? One of the oddest paradoxes of modern cultural politics may at last be resolved.
The paradox is this: Cultural conservatives revel in condemning the loose moral values and louche lifestyles of “San Francisco liberals.” But if you want to find two-parent families with stable marriages and coddled kids, your best bet is to bypass Sarah Palin country and go to Nancy Pelosi territory: the liberal, bicoastal, predominantly Democratic places that cultural conservatives love to hate.
The country’s lowest divorce rate belongs to none other than Massachusetts, the original home of same-sex marriage. Palinites might wish that Massachusetts’s enviable marital stability were an anomaly, but it is not. The pattern is robust. States that voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in both 2004 and 2008 boast lower average rates of divorce and teenage childbirth than do states that voted for the Republican in both elections. (That is using family data for 2006 and 2007, the latest available.) Story is located here

“The traditional pattern of running large deficits only in times of war or economic downturns was broken during much of the 1980s. In 1982 [Reagan’s first budget year], partly in response to a recession, large tax cuts were enacted. However, these were accompanied by substantial increases in defense spending. Although reductions were made to nondefense spending, they were not sufficient to offset the impact on the deficit. As a result, deficits averaging $206 billion were incurred between 1983 and 1992. These unprecedented peacetime deficits increased debt held by the public from $789 billion in 1981 to $3.0 trillion (48.1% of GDP) in 1992.” [emphasis added]

Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto has created a beautiful, undeniably scary time-lapse map of the 2053 nuclear explosions which have taken place between 1945 and 1998, beginning with the Manhattan Project’s “Trinity” test near Los Alamos and concluding with Pakistan’s nuclear tests in May of 1998. This leaves out North Korea’s two alleged nuclear tests in this past decade (the legitimacy of both of which is not 100% clear).
Each nation gets a blip and a flashing dot on the map whenever they detonate a nuclear weapon, with a running tally kept on the top and bottom bars of the screen. Hashimoto, who began the project in 2003, says that he created it with the goal of showing”the fear and folly of nuclear weapons.” It starts really slow — if you want to see real action, skip ahead to 1962 or so — but the buildup becomes overwhelming. It should come as no surprise that conservative media figures repeat the myth that most Americans share their views. Even when Democrats win, conservatives claim that their ideology is still dominant. On election night 2006, Fox News anchor Brit Hume acknowledged that Democrats were winning, but stressed that “from what we could see from all the polling and everything else, it remains a conservative country.” He did not say what “polling and everything else” he was referring to. Glenn Beck of CNN Headline News agreed, stating the following day that despite the Democratic victory, “the majority of Americans seem in favor of classically Republican points of view.” But it was not just conservatives; in fact, they were simply repeating what they had heard mainstream journalists say for some time. “This is basically not a liberal country,” said John Harris, then of The Washington Post and now of The Politico, in May 2005. “It’s a conservative country.” Previewing the Democrats’ prospects for victory three weeks before the 2006 election, CNN senior political correspondent Candy Crowley asserted that Democrats have been “on the losing side of the values debate, the defense debate and, oh yes, the guns debate.” (Crowley presented no evidence that Democrats had been “on the losing side” of any of these debates.)

On Meet the Press today, National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions tried to claim that Republicans are the party of fiscal responsibility. Sessions memory must be short. Just a few years ago, Republicans in Congress and the Bush Administration created record deficits and pursued policies that drove our economy into the ditch, including tax cuts for Wall Street and other special interests. Representative Sessions made his own personal contribution towards fiscal irresponsibility when he sponsored an earmark for blimp building for the company of a former aide with no experience in government contracts, much less building blimps.
Sessions Rhetoric: “I think the public sees this as a long term debt issue of big government, more spending”
Reality: Under Republican Control, Government Spending and Deficits Skyrocketed and Are Largely to Blame for Current Fiscal Situation. According to a report from the non-partisan Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, “The events and policies that have pushed deficits to these high levels in the near term, however, were largely outside the new Administration’s control. If not for the tax cuts enacted during the presidency of George W. Bush that Congress did not pay for, the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that were initiated during that period, and the effects of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression (including the cost of steps necessary to combat it), we would not be facing these huge deficits in the near term.” [CBPP, 6/28/10]
Reality: Sponsored Unjustified Blimp Earmark for Company of Former Aide. In 2009, Politico ran a story detailing an earmark Sessions sponsored for blimp research for a company with no experience in making blimps or even government contracting. What the company did have was Adrian Plesha, a former Sessions aide with a lengthy criminal record serving as its lobbyist. Sessions attempted to defend the earmark as focused on job creation in his district when the company was based in Illinois. [Politico, 7/30/09]
It has become fashionable to dismiss Olbermann as an over-the-top ranter — or as the MSNBC host put it himself, “a mirror image of that which I assail.” But there was nothing over-the-top about his special comment about Shirley Sherrod. Every word he spoke was true. And the only thing that made his stance so remarkable is the abject failure of the mainstream media — especially this week — to accurately describe the source of the allegation against Sherrod, or to chronicle the long-term impact of the “complete perversion of journalism” practiced 365 days a year by Fox News (and the right-wing bloggers and radio hosts that make up the rest of this wackosphere).
The “enabling” Olbermann so accurately describes consists of a nonchalant attitude among most media swells toward Rupert Murodch’s main propaganda machine — “oh, that’s just Fox” — melded with an inculcation by these same writers of the main “value” informing almost every judgment made in America today: if it makes a lot of money, it must be a wonderful thing.
The perversion of journalism produced by the fusion of these two attitudes has led us directly to the perversion of society we witnessed this week, when a Democratic White House and the nation’s oldest civil rights organization both behaved in a precipitous, craven, and disgusting fashion, purely out of fear of how they would be treated by a band of vicious charlatans men and women who are inexplicably treated by everyone from The New York Times to the Today Show as if they were actual journalists. Since the fiscal theory of supply-side economics did not work, the tax-cutting eras of Ronald Reagan and George H. Bush and again of George W. Bush saw very substantial rises in ratios of federal debt to gross domestic product. Under Reagan and the first Bush, the ratio of public debt to GDP went from 33 per cent to 64 per cent. It fell to 57 per cent under Bill Clinton. It then rose to 69 per cent under the second George Bush. Equally, tax cuts in the era of George W. Bush, wars and the economic crisis account for almost all the dire fiscal outlook for the next ten years (see the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities).
Today’s extremely high deficits are also an inheritance from Bush-era tax-and-spending policies and the financial crisis, also, of course, inherited by the present administration. Thus, according to the International Monetary Fund, the impact of discretionary stimulus on the US fiscal deficit amounts to a cumulative total of 4.7 per cent of GDP in 2009 and 2010, while the cumulative deficit over these years is forecast at 23.5 per cent of GDP. In any case, the stimulus was certainly too small, not too large.
The evidence shows, then, that contemporary conservatives (unlike those of old) simply do not think deficits matter, as former vice-president Richard Cheney is reported to have told former treasury secretary Paul O’Neill. But this is not because the supply-side theory of self-financing tax cuts, on which Reagan era tax cuts were justified, has worked, but despite the fact it has not. The faith has outlived its economic (though not its political) rationale.

Racism is propelled by the rich so you are not angry at the rich getting richer…while you are getting poorer. Racism=distractionSunday, July 25th, 2010
This story about Laredo ranches was untrue and started for a reason. Why was this story started when it was untrue and had nothing to do with reality? Someone started this story and came up with these lies…why?
The same reason I get 4-5 forwarded emails every week with Obama sitting there with a Photoshopped bone in his nose….the same reason I get pictures of Obama with a watermelon patch in his front yard…the same reason I get emails filled with lies that have NOTHING to do with reality. Racism.
It is all fear based. It is all fear of people who look different. It is all people who may make the community look different. America’s white majority will be a minority in a few years and some people fear this for some reason. They see this as “their nation” and are angered that it is changing and want “their country back”.
Why did Breitbart release that video of a black woman speaking to an NAACP convention and the spin of the edited video WAS 180 DEGREES FROM WHAT SHE SAID? Why did FOX News never run the correction to the story in the form of the full video when CNN DID run the full video? FOX was not interested in fixing the racial divide the video created yet CNN wanted to report the truth which helped fix things…but FOX DID NOT AIR THE WHOLE VIDEO. To fix the story would fix the narrative they want to project.
There is a narrative out there. There is a narrative that people who are not white are not right. There is a narrative that people who act different are queer or are freaks or are outsiders. All of these are reactions of fearful people. To react this way is not a reaction by strong people. Strong people are MLK who react to dogs and water cannon by continually walking into the face of George Wallace and the majority demanding school or a front bus seat. This is the difference.
The anti-Obama groups and anti-immigrant groups are fearful people…they are people who have problems and they are people that need to be confronted with reality. They need to be told first off that this not not “their country” but “our country”. Our country has had great influence by Native American Indian, Spanish, French, English and many other nations. So firstly the change we are seeing is called EVOLUTION and it is ironic that the people that do not believe in evolution are the ones that see it happening…and are angry at it. Our nation evolved from other cultures and languages…to other languages and cultures…to predominantly White/English culture and now we are moving onto a different color as we have many times. WE have evolved many times…and there was not a lot that could be done about it previously and not this time either. Evolution is true…it is happening before our eyes. It is change. To not want change is to defy reality from being the truth. It is to deny evolution and the future and reality.
So you might ask what to do about the border violence? Legalize marijuana in the USA and you cut the cartel revenue by 60%. Make it like a pharmaceutical here…make it pure and safe and tax it. The number of people going to hospitals due to alcohol is in millions while the number of people going to the hospital due to marijuana caused issues is very very small. People on alcohol get violent but not marijuana. So marijuana is an inherently safer drug than alcohol which is available in every store in every town in every state. Several other drugs again can be made like a pharmaceutical…made safely as opposed to with poison as drugs are not made and taxed. This would free up law enforcement and create funds to guard the bored more closely and other crimes.
NEXT…the current formula is that get drugs shipped up here and we send money and guns down to the drug cartels. The people who are killed in Mexico are killed with American made guns. The people in America killed by drug cartels are made with American made guns. What do you want to do about that? It is funny how anti-immigration people say the rights given to American citizens should not be extended to those from other nations however the right to guns in America is de-facto given to people from other nations due to the ease of getting guns here.
Overall….the lies about Obama are head and shoulders above and worse than the lies about Bush as shown by a Snopes.com study. Obama Snopes story is located here
This despite under Obama-
95% of Americans got a tax break
Millions of people (Republicans AND Democrats will get health insurance when they had none before
The Border Patrol has BEEN DOUBLED by Obama over what W had in place
The racial division as seen propagated by the right-wing has been a wonderful way to keep people angry at someone other than the people at the top of the economic food chain. Did you know that $2 TRILLION in cash is sitting in corporate bank accounts doing nothing? Our GDP is $14 Trillion with $2 Trillion sitting in the bank doing nothing. Shouldn’t those corporation be doing something with that money? How many people would $2 Trillion employ? How many jobs could that fund? Where is the outrage over this? This is the narrative we should be angry at but no we are busy yelling at other people who are having an even harder time at making ends meet than we have. Why do people in other nations RIOT when prices go up…they RIOT when education costs go up…they RIOT when ANYONE EVEN MENTIONS pensions could be reduced. They RIOT when things are taken away. Not here. Education goes from basically $0 to thousands of dollars per year. Our TEAPARTY elected officials say the rich can continue to get rich beyond their wild dreams yet the $800 Social Security check to seniors might have to be reduced. People here didn’t flinch when Teaparty House Leader John Boehner said retirement may have to be raised to 70.
Over the past 30 years the US GDP went from $7 to $14 Trillion. In that was a MASSIVE amount of pay increase. How much of that personal income increase we saw in $7 Trillion in GDP increase went to 90% of the population? 15% of those income gains went to 90% of the INCOME earning population of the USA. How much of the personal income increase seen in $7 TRILLION increase in GDP was seen by the TOP ONE TENTH OF ONE PERCENT of income earners? 25%. So 25% of income gains seen in $7 TRILLION in GDP increase was given to 130,000 people in America.
Couple that with the fact that corporations pay essentially no taxes…and the rich pay no taxes as they get deductions for everything…so therefore the poor pay for everything http://joewo.com/WordPress/?p=4974
So really Obama has done MORE for MORE people than any other President in decades…WHILE the amount of aggregate taxes has been the lowest since 1951. YET people complain they are taxed too much??? It truly has nothing to do with reality. The anger people voice should be aimed at the top 5% and the top 2-3% who say the VAST majority of income gains and tax breaks from Reaganomics and Bushonomics. People doubt they will even have Social Security however well over half of all people have less than $20,000 saved for retirement. But Teaparty leaders want to stop Social Security and Medicare and want to continue the tax cuts to the super rich as pay for workers goes down.
This is all a narrative for a reason. The narrative being…hate the people that are lateral to you for a number of reasons and racism is a huge one. Never hate the people who are rich…despite their getting obscene amounts of pay gains and tax cuts.
So yes…this story about ranches in Laredo are RACIST. It is a diversion from where the anger SHOULD be located. This racism is driven by the upper income in order to deflect rightfully placed anger at them.
FACE IT…you make an average salary and save almost nothing. You have debt that you go to bed worried about. You look at your kids and house and occasionally think what would happen if you and your wife lose your job. You have FAR MORE in common to homeless people than the top 2% of income earners. The top 2% is reserved for people making over $200,000 per year. Is that you? The 50% mark is about $50,000 so if you make less than about $50,000 you are in the majority. You have far more in common with homeless people than you do with the people that will see the repeal of the Bush Tax cuts. But get ready for the opposition to that will once again see the racial divide ginned up again so you do not get mad at people making over $200,000 because they deserve their huge tax breaks as you continue to pay your taxes. Be a racist. Support your rich people like good TEAPARTY members. And believe this stupid story not based on anything other than hot air so you are distracted from the truth which is that economically you are screwed by the rich that are sitting on literal goldmines.
(Reuters) – Most U.S. and foreign corporations doing business in the United States avoid paying any federal income taxes, despite trillions of dollars worth of sales, a government study released on Tuesday said. Story is located here
This is the definition of Reaganomics and Bushanomics. Tax cuts for the rich…corporations write everything off and the poor pay the bills.
The right wing world literally makes things up case number 98902348. Zetas take over ranches in Texas…laughableSunday, July 25th, 2010
Well the right wing world has been screaming about some Mexican cartel gangs or something taking over some ranches in Texas. Apparently ZETAS are taking over. You would think the bloggers saying this would want the truth and would possibly call police down in that area where the ZETAS took over the ranches. If you think those bloggers want the truth you would be mistaken.
The truth is here and police in that region have never heard of it. Story is located here

Laredo Morning Times
Local law enforcement was bombarded with calls from across the country Saturday asking about a report that the Zetas had taken over two ranches off Mines Road.
But officials with the Laredo Police Department, Webb County Sheriff’s Department and Border Patrol said they knew nothing about such an incident, while Erik Vasys, an FBI spokesman in San Antonio, said the agency does not comment on rumors.
OHHH but the rumors continue
Here is a right wing blogger pushing the story without finding the facts. Story is located here.

Ayn Rand is one of America’s great mysteries. She was an amphetamine-addicted author of sub-Dan Brown potboilers, who in her spare time wrote lavish torrents of praise for serial killers and the Bernie Madoff-style embezzlers of her day. She opposed democracy on the grounds that “the masses”—her readers—were “lice” and “parasites” who scarcely deserved to live. Yet she remains one of the most popular writers in the United States, still selling 800,000 books a year from beyond the grave. She regularly tops any list of books that Americans say have most influenced them. Since the great crash of 2008, her writing has had another Benzedrine rush, as Rush Limbaugh hails her as a prophetess. With her assertions that government is “evil” and selfishness is “the only virtue,” she is the patron saint of the tea-partiers and the death panel doomsters. So how did this little Russian bomb of pure immorality in a black wig become an American icon? Story is located here

I recently wrote about the discrepancy between receipt of and support for federal spending among Tea Party supporters – 49% of Tea Party supporters, or members of their immediate families, are eligible for Social Security and/or Medicare, yet 67% favor smaller government even if it “required cuts in spending on domestic programs such as Social Security, Medicare, education, or defense”. Among the general population, only 15% are eligible for Social Security and/or Medicare, and only 29% support cutting those domestic programs.
After reflecting further on this discrepancy, I decided to look for discrepancies between conservative perspectives and the receipt of federal spending on a state-by-state level. I found the map first map above, which shows federal spending per dollar of federal taxes by state for FY 2004, and the second map above, which shows the party representation in the 111 U.S. Senate (elected in 2008), where Red = 2 Republican Senators (14, or 28%), Purple = 1 Republican Senator and 1 Democratic Senator (13, or 26%) and Blue = 2 Democratic Senators (23, or 46%, and I will lump in states with 1 Democratic Senator and 1 Independent Senator with the Blue states, to simplify things).
If we assume that Senators represent their constituents, and that Democratic Senators are generally more likely to support federal spending than Republican Senators, it appears that the states that receive the least federal spending per tax dollar contributed are the states that are most likely to support federal spending. And the states that are least likely to support federal spending are those which, on average, receive the most federal spending dollars per tax dollar paid.
Obama HATES white car dealers- This garbage which was mathematically put in the trash last summer is resurrected like a zombie news storyFriday, July 23rd, 2010
American Thinker is a right wing nut job blog. Apparently they are in a time warp as they just printed an article on a topic that was completely debunked LAST SUMMER. American Thinker story is here. the debunking from Nate Silver and 538.com is located here with another story debunking that zombie story here.
There shouldn’t be any doubt that right-wing media ‘scandals’ should be greeted with extreme skepticism, and yet the naïve continue to stumble along without ever taking a good hard look at how these frauds are perpetrated. So here is an example, chosen almost at random from the many daily ‘scandals’ flogged by right-wing blogs. Like so many other ‘scandals’ promoted by conservatives since 2008, this piece is transparently race-baiting. It has also been reproduced and quoted widely and uncritically. But above all, it’s marked by preposterously misleading assertions. The post is predicated entirely on the assumption that readers will not check the source material and discover its deceptions.
The author, William Tate, argues that the “Obama administration…faces a new [racial] bias claim” from the TARP Special Inspector General, Neil Barofsky. Tate would have us believe that Barofsky charges Obama with ensuring that GM and Chrysler dealerships were slated for closure based upon the race/gender of their owners.
Wonder of wonders, Tate is being deceptive. What follows are three obvious ways in which Tate has tried to mislead. Story is located here
Corporate welfare, as described by Wikipedia, puts it like this: “Corporate welfare is a pejorative term describing a government’s bestowal of money grants, tax breaks, or other special favorable treatment on corporations or selected corporations”. I’m of the opinion that Wikipedia puts it very mildly, but, on the other hand, they are suppose to be unbiased. This cartoon is a great rendition of what it really means.
While the $3 trillion plus bailout of the financial industry can most certainly be termed as corporate welfare, it is not there I want to focus — my focus is on the hundreds of billions of dollars given away each year to these corporations with no end in sight. Ironically, it is that industry (along with many of the others) and their “political party of choice” who are always pointing to welfare programs for the poor and less fortunate —- the people who really need help — as “the problem” with the debt and deficit.
Let’s get this out of the way first. No doubt the defenders of corporate welfare will point to the only defense they have – trickle-down-economics. Or, if you so desire, supply-side-economics. The reason they always point to that is because there is no other defense! But with 800,000 jobs lost under the last administrations’ first four year and just as many their last four — all right behind one of the biggest trickle-down-economic giveaways in history — I think one can safely say TDE doesn’t work; except for the corporations. See this example. And if that’s not enough for you, revisit how many jobs were lost under the (President) Reagan administration, which also saw huge increases in corporate welfare.

Keith Olbermann delivers a great Special Comment on the wrongful crucifiction of Shirley Sherrod while Glenn Beck guffaws and adds nothing of substance to the discussionThursday, July 22nd, 2010
Keith Olbermann took a vacation from this vacation last night to deliver a 12-minute Special Comment on the Shirley Sherrod case, blaming, well just about everyone for Sherrod’s 48-hour fall from grace: “We, the howling fools of the far right, the stand-aside pathetic bureaucrats of the Department of Agriculture, the whole of the cowering media, this network included … Her reputation assassinated by Fox News, assassinated by that scum Breitbart, assassinated by all the meager-brained imitators on other channels and other web sites. They’re limp fellow travelers who never asked, but simply shot and shot and shot and shot and laughed.” Story is located here
Make sure to watch Olbermann’s comment and then watch the waste that is Glenn Beck’s response to Olbermann.
Media Matters has documented a timeline of Andrew Breitbart’s smear of Shirley Sherrod, from Breitbart’s initial posting of his deceptively edited clip of Sherrod — which was amplified by Fox News and other right-wing media — through the release of the full video of Sherrod’s comments, which made clear the context of her remarks. ANIMAL CRUSH VIDEOS. Videos in which animals are simply crushed to death. I have no idea the Sociopath who would want to see something like this but those that do or those that approve of something like this make me HOPE there is a Hell just so they could wind up there. This issue was brought up to the US House of Representatives. Elected officials voted on this and 3 voted that these videos should not be illegal and punishable as a crime. Those 3 were Ron Paul and 2 Teaparty Republicans. Those 3 pieces of human waste disgust me. Ron Paul and the 2 Teaparty members will say that this should be left up to the Free Market as to whether it would continue. Please click the link to see the Roll Call vote from the US House of Representatives.

580 Gunman fails to draw national attention despite his call for Revolution and wanting to kill people.Wednesday, July 21st, 2010
The gunman lived in a very very small town in the middle of nowhere California. His plan was to go to the ACLU and “The Tides” which is a philanthropic center in San Francisco. He was hoping this would start a “revolution” as he was upset over the “liberal agenda” that had been “shoved down his throat”. Basically this unstable man was listening to Glenn Beck and FOX News and took their comments seriously as he went to go on a killing spree. Story is located here
This story is far more important than the Black Panthers story that made the rounds for days. This is a story about a gunman having a shootout with a police officer as he was headed to kill many more people. This should have the screed of, “FOX News incites man to kill.” as it would be the screed FROM FOX that the left wing media created him if he were headed to typical right wing establishments. This is proof that the right-wing media is not interested in stories showing the right-wingers in bad light. This SHOULD have been talked about and talked about and hands wrung over what to do but America was busy with another fake story which was completely made up by FOX News. Story about this murderer who wanted to kill Liberal groups is located here.

On February 14, a Florida Appeals court ruled there is absolutely nothing illegal about lying, concealing or distorting information by a major press organization. The court reversed the $425,000 jury verdict in favor of journalist Jane Akre who charged she was pressured by Fox Television management and lawyers to air what she knew and documented to be false information. The ruling basically declares it is technically not against any law, rule, or regulation to deliberately lie or distort the news on a television broadcast.Story is located here
